DiabetesHelp.com is a website that provides information regarding diabetes, its types, symptoms, causes, and treatments.

Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user-agent string to help us with spam detection. An anonymized string created from the visitor’s email address (hash value) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if the visitor is using it. After the comment’s approval, the visitor’s profile picture will appear publicly in the context of the comment.

Media

If visitors upload images to the website, we recommend them to avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Forms

We may collect personal information such as name, email address, and message when visitors fill in the contact form. This information is used solely to respond to their inquiry.

Cookies

When visitors leave a comment on our site, they may opt-in to saving their name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies last for one year and are used for their convenience so that they do not have to fill in their details again when they leave another comment.

If visitors visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if their browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when visitors close their browser.

When visitors log in, we will set up several cookies to save their login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If visitors select “Remember Me,” their login will persist for two weeks. If they log out of their account, the login cookies will be removed.

If visitors edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in their browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article they just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if the visitors have visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about visitors, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor visitors’ interaction with that embedded content, including tracking their interaction with the embedded content if they have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze our visitors’ activities on our website for better user experience, product improvement, and marketing purposes.

Who We Share Your Data With

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. It is so we can approve and recognize any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
